Holstein and Pauole's connection with Al Vierra goes back to 1928 and possibly earlier. All that is known for certain is that they toured extensively with Vierra that year reaching from western Canada to Louisiana in the USA. The image below appeared in a Louisiana newspaper in 1928 and a similar one in a Canadian Chautauqua programme ( see the Genial Hawaiians CD booklet for a good copy of that)

After the death of Jim Holstein in 1936 , Bob Pauole joined Vierra once again and remained with him until his death in 1952. The band had long standing bookings at several hotels and nightclubs in Chicago and Florida but it seems that,regrettablythey made no recordings
